I must admit that I have the wines of Manousakis, and the namesake of the wine, Alexandra Manousakis, got to know already. Both anything but unpleasant. It was good what's going on yesterday and the atmosphere is also very relaxed. This is also due to the very appealing wine.
The idea of Manousakis, an emigrant to the United States Cretan family was grapes, which are found elsewhere in the Rhone region in their to cultivate native Crete. The dream was then implemented in the early 90s and is now one of the Nostos Winery to the top quality producers in Greece.
The wine is a typical Rhone blend of Syrah, Mourvedre and Grenache that was aged in new and used barrels. The many participants in Roussillon, Minversois, Languedoc or Rhone nose reminiscent entertained us with Mixed Berries dark, smoky, herbal, spicy notes and bitter chocolate. The wine has a sufficiently animated and rather acid-present tannins. In sum, it all makes pretty print, but looks, as long you do not become too warm Alexandra leaves, never broadly and intrusive. The 14% is noticeable only in the effect, not while drinking. Despite a slight 'coarseness' he runs elegantly down the throat and ends in a slightly bitter but very nice final. Hellas!
This is the gateway drug of Manousakis, which gives a first impression, which made for great wines there. I can only lay my heart each time to try the Syrah, which is really awesome stuff!
two really good wines that we could try here from Greece, which have removed many prejudices from the world and leave you wanting more Greek wine. Also, above all because of the good Price - performance ratio.
