Last night was the first wine of the series. As always, first tasted the white wine. It is a Chenin Blanc in oak removed from the vineyard e Kleine Zalze Stellenbosch from the growing area.
Because of the reported 14.5% by volume and a 'warning' of the wine lounge , I have the wine, but 'kampfkaraffiert', then poured a few times by jug to jug, which has never harmed him. The wine has a strong golden yellow. In the nose dominated in almost all Participants at the beginning of alcohol and over-ripe apple, which reminded me strongly of Berentzen apple liqueur. This was followed in the course of the evening oxidative notes Bortritys, nutty flavors, preserved exotic fruits, honey and clearly perceptible notes of the wood barrel. All this would point to a fat, alcoholic wine and it was then his appearance in the mouth. Full-slim body, candied baked apple with sustained gangrenous sharpness on the tongue, resulting from the high alcohol content. As the temperature was still a noticeable bitterness in the finish.
Personally, I'm more of the cabinet type, for me it was already too much. The wine is clearly to me 'bold', heavy and alcoholic, and can therefore only produce passport-related drinking. The majority of fellow drinkers fared similarly.
Conclusion: very special wine, something like you have already, I do not, quite a bit too hard.
But we still have a second in the package, which will hopefully find more appeal. Nevertheless
